This is my first
"Creative Every Day" post. I am very new to blogging, in fact my first post was only a few days ago! I would love to hear any feedback that anyone would have. I found the Creative Every Day blog on my friend
Cheryl's blog and thought I should check it out. I LOVE the idea of an extra incentive to be doing artwork every day. We'll see how far I get with it, I have a tendency to get a bit sidetracked, but it is always my goal. Anyway, I thought that I would share some of the images that I've been working on this week. I took them on Saturday at the
Boyce Thompson Arboretum in Surprise, Az. If you have a chance to swing by there before Sept. 30th, please check out the show that is hanging (I have a piece in it). Anyway, here are some dragonflies by the water. To see the un-edited images click

Uhm, WOW! I love these! I love the contrast of colors, and how the colors of the dragonflies just "pop!" Awesome!

Hi Jeanette, These are wonderful photos. I enjoyed the edited/enhanced/exaggerated versions in addition to the original. Dragonflies are such beautiful, jewel-like insects. You're way of editing and enhancing added to the feeling of sparkling jewels!

I love the idea my dragonflies having the feel of sparkling jewels. Especially coming from you, I really enjoy your artwork.
Have you ever thought of doing stained glass? I think your work looks like it would make beautiful stained glass! I can just imagine the sun's rays bursting through and creating an additional masterpiece of light. Your work is beautiful and makes my eyes dance.

Thank you Eva, I'm really enjoying the inspiration it's bringing. I'm almost done with my next Dragonfly but I'm not quite there yet.
ReplyDeleteFrances, It's funny you should say that because I've always thought that when you look at the wings of the dragonfly up close, stained glass is exactly what they look like. I think that's one of the reasons that I like these pieces printed large so much better than when they are small, you can see all the detail then. As far as making actual stained glass pieces, I think that is out of my league for all the detail that would be involved and the tiny intricate pieces it would require. My husband made me a stained glass dragonfly one year. I'll have to photograph it and post it soon. I've never actually worked with it myself. I have, however (a long time ago) printed on a backlit substrate that allowed for the look of stained glass, I liked how it turned out but have never had a good way to display it. It would need to somehow be mounted to glass, edge framed and hung in a way that didn't cover any of the piece. That's a thought for down the road maybe. Thanks!
