Sneak Peek

I recently had the honor of photographing a surprise party 80th Birthday Party!  The party was held at the beautiful Wyndham Hotel of Downtown Phx.  They didn't miss even the smallest detail.  Here are some pictures from the event.

This image is a detail shot that I thought the family might enjoy since I know some of them are scrapbookers.  It is of glass beads set out on two panes of glass and suspended from the ceiling.  Later, dinner was served from these.

The party decor was themed around a cruise ship.  To enter the dining room the guests even walked up a giant gang plank fit with specialized life preservers to honor the Birthday Girl.  Before dinner was a cocktail hour where the Birthday Girl's friends and family could enjoy cocktails while mingling, getting fun portraits taken and listening to the Jimmy Buffet style tunes of a very talented steel drum player.

Here is our Guest of Honor.  She thought she would be enjoying dinner with close family but walked into a room filled with her friends and extended family.  What a great treat.

Throughout the evening, guests were entertained by the beautiful, melodic tones of Sonoran Serenade.  This was an amazing band!  The first portion of the evening was filled with favorites from musicals and later they transitioned into easy listening classics.

The cruise theme continued through dinner as guests walked around the room to sample different "ports of faire".  Each port has it's own style of cuisine, all accompanied by a wine from the region!

After dinner there was dancing followed by a toast to the Birthday Girl from her loving children.

Out came the cake!

The music and dancing probably would have been enough for a great party but an 80th Birthday is special enough to bring out the high rollers.  The guests were all given some play money to spend at the casino set up in the corner of the ballroom!

I couldn't resist including this image.  Every little girl needs to know that her father loves her and thinks she is beautiful.  I think it's obvious how this Dad feels about his precious girl.

The dancing continued into the night.  It was a beautiful and well thought out tribute to a woman who has obviously touched many lives.

Again, the music was amazing.  Both the band and vocalists did a stunning job!

Thank you again for choosing In the Light Photography.  We had a wonderful time celebrating your Birthday Girl with you.
